Jacob Stanfield, known to friends and family as “Jake”, and known to train crews as “that idiot with a camera”, has a passion for photography and anything that moves on a pair of steel rails.

Growing up near CSX's Louisville-to-Cincinnati mainline put trains practically in his backyard, so it was only a matter of time before he took a liking to them. Eventually, iPod videos and photos turned into JPEGs from a hand-me-down Nikon, which eventually turned into RAWs from his own camera. He started attending Western Kentucky University and wasn't sure what he wanted to study until he took his first photo class.

Learning the ropes from the professionals at WKU has afforded him countless opportunities to expand his skills beyond the level of a hobbyist and given him the ability to pursue his dream in a more professional capacity.
